timing.ma started as one feature inside a restaurant POS — Wake Up — to solve one specific frustration: the manager couldn't tell whether the staff actually came in on time, because everyone wrote their own arrival on a paper sheet that mysteriously always said "08:00".
The first version was a QR taped to the wall and a phone running a webpage. It worked. Then a friend with a 22-person riad asked for the same thing. Then a café in Maarif. Then a logistics company in Aïn Sebaâ. At some point we realized we'd accidentally built a multi-tenant SaaS and may as well admit it.
So we lifted the attendance feature out of Wake Up, rebuilt it from scratch as a tenant-isolated platform, added payroll with CNSS and AMO because Moroccan businesses needed it, added leave management because it kept coming up, and put it at timing.ma.
The product principles haven't changed:
- Cheap to deploy. Any old phone is a kiosk. The free plan is genuinely free, forever, for up to 5 employees.
- Honest with customers. We tell you what's in the box and what isn't. If your case isn't a fit, we'll say so.
- Built for the Moroccan reality. CNSS, AMO, IR, Arabic interface, MAD currency, prayer-time-aware lateness — not a translation of a US product.
